Jean-Philippe Syed is a Partner at L1 Health, based in the Abu Dhabi office. He is responsible for the origination, execution, and management of global healthcare investment opportunities and for driving innovative value creation projects across the firm’s portfolio companies. JP also spearheads our regional engagement in the Middle East and India. JP brings over a decade of private equity experience. Most recently, he was a Partner at X12 Capital in Abu Dhabi, a growth-oriented private equity and special situations fund, where he led several key acquisitions within the regional healthcare sector. Prior to that, JP served as a Partner at DPI in London, leading the pharma buy-and-build strategy for Kelix Bio—later acquired by Mubadala—and successfully executing multiple transactions across healthcare services and pharmaceuticals in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. Throughout his career, JP has served on the boards of over 20 companies, including his recent role as Non-Executive Director at Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industries, one of Egypt’s leading generic pharmaceutical businesses. Before entering private equity, JP gained extensive experience in investment banking at BNP Paribas and JP Morgan in New York. He began his professional journey in consulting with McKinsey & Company and BCG across Europe and the Middle East.
JP holds a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London and has completed executive education programs at INSEAD and SDA Bocconi.
